The A242 is a basic cash register best suited for training or low-volume locations. The printer can be set for either receipt or journal, or can be turned off to conserve paper. The operation and programming are less complicated than other models, and the included instruction tape is designed to step the operator through programming tax rates, preset department prices, entering sales, and printing out daily reports. There is no dealer installation/training included in the price of this model. However, it is supported by the nationwide SHARP network.

The SHARP A440 has 20 departments standard. The keyboard can be expanded to 50 departments with the installation of optional memory processor and keyboard reconfiguration. Department keys can be programmed with up to 4 tax rates, and can be used with either open or preset prices. With the preset price function, the operator simply presses the department key, and the price is automatically calculated, including any necessary tax rate. The two printer tapes provide journal and receipt. Basic dealer setup and training are included in the price, along with minor programming. If advanced programming is required, or if extra parts are needed (such as memory processors and key caps), there will be an additional fee from the installing technician.

The 450T is a high capacity register which can be used with peripherals in addition to the Coin Changer. If Bar Code Scanner and Scale are needed, the register may be set up to switch off the talking journals. If the talking journals are also needed, they maybe accessed by switching off one of the peripherals and doing a brief programming routine. A second programming routine and switch will then restore the peripheral. The thermal printer has two tapes, one for journal, one for receipt. Expansion to 50 departments requires optional expansion memory and keyboard configuration. The bar code scanner uses standard UPC codes printed on pre-packaged products such as soft drinks and snacks. Memory capacity with expanded memory is 15000 UPC codes. With the scale option, a department can be programmed with a preset price so the operator places an item on the scale, presses the "SCALE" key, and then presses the department key: the cash register detects the weight, calculates the price per pound, and displays the $ amount, which can be announced by pressing the speech key. This cash register is intended for applications which require high memory capacity, or a scale or scanner.  

TALKING CASH REGISTERS

All registers have raised keys, voice on/off switch, and talking journal reports.  The displays have green LED lighted digits which are 3/8 inch by 5/8 inch, which may help low vision operators.  The cash registers are supported by the SHARP nationwide dealer network. The dealer can provide supplies such as paper tape and ink ribbons. Prices include installation unless otherwise stated. Restocking fee applies.

The scanner plugs into the cash register, and the multi directional beam finds the bar-code easily.  The first time an item is scanned, the register asks for price and department.  After the price is stored in memory, it is automatically recalled. If assistance is needed to scan start-up inventory into the register, or for additional training, arrangements can be made through a local dealer at additional cost.

The 520 is a sophisticated high capacity cash register. It has a liquid crystal operator display, otherwise the same features as the 450T, plus it can be used with a DataCap credit card terminal. The DataCap is a swipe- only terminal which feeds information directly into the Cash Register display, where it can be spoken by the Cash Register Voice System.
